Accessibility Statement
Blissintale should work for everyone. Here is where we stand.
Our commitment
We want Blissintale to be usable by as many people as possible, regardless of disability, device, or how you prefer to browse. We are working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standard, and we take that work seriously.
Built-in tools
Every page includes an accessibility toolbar, accessed via the ⚙ button in the bottom-right corner. It lets you:
- Increase or decrease the font size (range: 80% to 140%)
- Switch on high contrast mode for improved readability
- Enable a dyslexia-friendly font (Verdana-based, wider spacing)
- Reduce motion โ disables animations and transitions site-wide
- Adjust line spacing across all body text (three levels)
You can also toggle between dark and light mode using the button in the navigation bar. All preferences are saved locally in your browser and persist between visits.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML throughout, with proper heading structure and landmark regions
- All interactive elements are keyboard-navigable with visible focus indicators
- Form inputs have properly associated labels
- Colour contrast meets WCAG AA in both light and dark modes
- Font sizes are set in relative units to respect your browser’s default settings
- Touch targets are at least 44x44px on mobile
- The read aloud feature on story pages uses the Web Speech API for hands-free reading
Known limitations
We are not perfect, and we know it. Areas we are still improving:
- Some dynamically loaded content (reactions, story loading) may not be fully announced by screen readers
- A “skip to content” link is not present on all pages yet
- Some emoji used as visual elements do not have complete screen reader descriptions
We are actively working through these. If something specific is causing you difficulty, please let us know and it goes to the top of our list.
Browser and device support
We test on the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on both desktop and mobile. We aim to support all modern browsers released in the last three years.
