Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to us. Here's exactly what we do — and don't — collect.
Overview
Bliss is an anonymous storytelling platform. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
We operate under the principle of minimum data collection — we only store what is absolutely necessary to run the service.
What We Collect
When you submit a story:
- The story title, body, theme, and any tags you provide
- A server timestamp of when it was submitted
- No name, email, IP address, or device information is stored by us
When you react to a story:
- An anonymous reaction count is stored against the story ID
- Your reaction preference is saved locally in your browser (localStorage) only — not on our servers
When you report a story:
- The story ID, reason, and optional note you provide
- No personal information is attached to reports
What We Don't Collect
- Your name, email address, or any account information
- Your IP address (beyond standard Firebase/Google infrastructure logs)
- Cookies for tracking or advertising purposes
- Device fingerprints or browser identifiers
- Location data
Third Party Services
We use Firebase (Google) to store stories and reactions. Firebase may log IP addresses and request metadata as part of its standard infrastructure. This is outside our control. You can read Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
We use Google Fonts to load typography. This may involve a request to Google's servers when you load a page.
We use Netlify to host this website. Netlify may log standard access data (IP, browser type, pages visited) for security and performance purposes.
Cookies
We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. We use browser localStorage (not cookies) to remember your theme preference (dark/light mode), font size, and whether you have reacted to a story. This data never leaves your device.
Data Retention
Stories submitted to Bliss are stored indefinitely unless removed by our moderation team. We do not have a mechanism to delete a specific story on request because stories are submitted anonymously and we cannot verify authorship. If you believe a story should be removed, please contact us.
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have rights regarding your personal data. Because we collect no personal data linked to your identity, most of these rights do not practically apply. However, if you have concerns, please contact us at hello@blissful.help.
Children
Bliss is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted content, please contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Bliss after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
